Eisenstein - The mountain!

The Eisenstein has some good climbs and beautiful panorama views. What probably counts for visitors at most, is the exemplary cultivated all year Eisenstein Cottage.

The Eisenstein is open year-round, except two holiday-weekends.
Have a look at the opening hours of the Julius Seitner Cottage!

  • Open from midday of Friday to Sunday (until about 16 pm).

The mountain is one of the most beautiful mountains and ski mountains of the Dirndl valley and one of the favorite mountains of Johann Weiss (nature guide and the owner of the Steinschaler Nature Hotels).

The flora and fauna has specialties that cannot to be found anywhere. e.g.:

  • Many orchids
  • courting grouse

Winter on the Eisenstein

The Eisenstein is one of the few avalanche assurance mountains in the Lower Austrian Alps where you can also go safely on ski tours. It has developed into a popular ski tours mountain with its reliable snow conditions. This was also contributed by Karl Zotrin with its year-round cultivation at the weekend very much.

Snowshoe tours with ascent of the rise Eisenstein Loich out are becoming increasingly popular. It can be driven in snow only to the last farmhouse (Family Tiefenbacher) (further up is no snow removal!).
